Lander University is offering a Priority Registration Week through Friday, March 19, for high school students interested in its tuition-free Dual Enrollment program.

Registration also will continue after that date until all students are served, said Shelby Dominick Reed, director of Lander’s Special Cohort Outreach and Bridge Programs.

“We are encouraging students to take advantage of the Priority Registration Week because enrollment for the Fall 2021 semester begins March 22,” Reed said. “However, we will continue working with all students to ensure that their academic needs are met regardless of the time they choose to register.”

The Dual Enrollment program enables high school students to enroll in two, three-hour credit courses in both the fall and spring semesters at no charge, Reed said.

“Lander’s philosophy regarding Dual Enrollment is incredibly individualized to meet each student’s ultimate academic goals,” she said. “Our goal is for each student to have the experience of a four-year University and take academic courses and earn credits toward a degree program that he or she desires. The value for the student is the opportunity to have the academic and campus life experiences of a University within their own community while they are in high school.”

Lander’s Dual Enrollment students are able to join many campus organizations and have access to the fitness center, athletic and cultural events and the University library. “It is a great opportunity to learn about campus life at a University,” Reed said.

There is no application fee for the program, which offers in-person classes and online and hybrid courses.

To enroll, students must meet these criteria:

  • Junior or senior status for the Fall 2021 academic semester;
  • A 3.5 GPA on a weighted scale;
  • Submission of an official copy of a high school transcript to the Lander University Admissions Office;
  • Completion of the Admissions application as a non-degree seeking student – available at www.lander.edu/DE (follow the steps outlined in the checklist);
  • Completion of a Course Request form that will go to sdominick@lander.edu.

For the 2021 – 22 academic year, Lander will waive the SAT and ACT requirements, Reed said.
