Men’s soccer earns No. 2 seed in NCAA Southeast Regional:

The seventh-ranked Lander men’s soccer team received the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Southeast Regional when the bracket was announced on Monday night. The Bearcats’ will be making their fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 13th in program history.

Lander will host an NCAA Tournament match for the first time since 2013, as the Bearcats (14-1-3) will face the winner of third-seeded Limestone (13-3-1) and sixth-seeded Anderson (10-4-3). The Saints and Trojans will play Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Van Taylor Stadium, with the winner advance to face Lander at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

In the other half of the Southeast Region bracket, fourth-seeded Tusculum (11-6-1) will take on fifth-seeded Queens (10-5-1) for the right to meet top-seeded Young Harris (16-0-1).

The Southeast Region champion will square off against the South Region winner in the tournament quarterfinals.

In the South, top-seeded Palm Beach Atlantic (18-1) will play fourth-seeded Lynn (11-4-1), while second-seeded Spring Hill (16-1) will face third-seeded Barry (13-3-1).

The Bearcats own a 6-8-6 all-time record in the NCAA tournament. Lander’s stretch of four consecutive NCAA Tournament berths is the second-longest in Bearcat history behind a five-year run from 2005 to 2009.

Lander, which advanced to the Southeast Regional championship last season, is looking for its first region title since 2005.

Since 2015, the Bearcats are 54-11-8 (.795) overall and 27-3-2 (.875) in the Peach Belt Conference.
