Bearcats begin season against Lenoir-Rhyne, No. 3 Carson-Newman:
The Lander women’s basketball team is set to open the 2018-19 season when the Bearcats face Lenoir-Rhyne and third-ranked Carson-Newman in the PBC/SAC Challenge. The Bearcats will play the Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Friday before taking on the Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

STORYLINES
• Lander is coming off its fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
• The Bearcats were tabbed to finish third in the Peach Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.
• Lander returns junior Jessica Harris, who averaged 10.0 points per game and led the conference in assists as a sophomore.
• Fifth-year senior Mylea McKenith also returns after missing all but six games last season due to injury. McKenith averaged 14.0 points per game last season and is a preseason all-conference selection.
• The Bearcats are facing Lenoir-Rhyne for the first time since 2010. The Bears hold a 5-2 lead in the overall series.
• Lander faced Carson-Newman twice last season, falling to the Eagles in the NCAA Southeast Regional semifinals.
