Skelton, Withers repeat as PBC Defender & Goalkeeper of the Week:
For the second week in a row, Jordan Skelton and Jacob Withers were named the Peach Belt Conference’s Defender of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week, this time for performances against Clayton State and Flagler. Withers has now garnered four Goalkeeper of the Week awards and has won the honor each of the last three weeks.
Jordan Skelton becomes the first field player to win five PBC weekly honors in a single season and ties former Bearcat Dean Cowdroy for the most single season weekly honors in conference history.
Lander men’s soccer now has 14 weekly Peach Belt Conference honors this season, breaking the program record of 12 set in 2016.
On Wednesday, Skelton and Withers helped Lander shut out Clayton State in a 4-0 road win. Withers made two saves while Skelton netted his seventh goal of the season. The duo led the Bearcats to another shutout, Lander’s 12th of the season, on Saturday as the Bearcats blanked Flagler, 2-0. Withers posted two saves in the win as Skelton and the Lander defense limited the Saints to just two shots for the match.
Lander will face the winner of North Georgia/Clayton State on Friday, Nov. 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga.
