No. 7 men’s soccer shuts out Flagler on Senior Night:
The seventh-ranked Lander men’s soccer team ended the regular season with a 2-0 shutout victory over Flagler on Senior Night in front of 408 fans at Van Taylor Stadium on Saturday.
Lander (13-1-2, 6-1 PBC) advances to the semifinals of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Friday, Nov. 2, at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga.
The Bearcats got some help from their bench for the night’s first goal as Oakley Hanger and Michael Leach entered the match and connected for a goal when Leach dove to head in a Hanger cross at the 32:00 mark. Lander put the finishing touches on the win in the 55th minute as Oliver Brock sliced a shot into the upper-right corner of the net off a pass from Thibault Chretien for his first goal of the year.
Lander limited Flagler to just two shots for the match, while attempting 22 shots on the night. Jacob Withers made two saves in goal as the Bearcats extended their shutout streak to 509:12.
The Bearcats are the No. 2 seed in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and will face the winner of North Georgia/Clayton State.
