Bearcats beat GSW, clinch No. 2 seed in Peach Belt Conference Tournament:
The Lander women’s soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 3-1 road win over Georgia Southwestern on Saturday night, securing the No. 2 seed in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.
The No. 2 seed marks Lander’s (12-2-1, 7-2 PBC) highest seeding ever at the PBC Tournament. The Bearcats will face seventh-seeded Georgia College on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Van Taylor Stadium.
Lander took an early lead when Chloe Le Franc netted her third goal in the past two games at the 8:39 mark. Juliette Vidal added to Lander’s lead in the 38th minute off a Kylee Eppl assist to give Lander a 2-0 advantage, but the Hurricanes (3-14, 0-10 PBC) answered less than five minutes later to cut the Bearcat lead to 2-1 entering halftime.
Emily Jermstad put the match away at the 68:41 mark with her seventh goal of the season.
The Bearcats outshot Georgia Southwestern 24-6, including a 14-3 advantage in shots on goal.
