No. 10 Bearcats earn 1-0 road win at Georgia Southwestern:
The 10th-ranked Lander men’s soccer team held its 10th opponent of the season scoreless and used a 61st-minute goal from Sia Jamedar to knock off Georgia Southwestern, 1-0, on Saturday night.
Lander (11-1-2, 4-1 PBC) remained unbeaten all-time against the Hurricanes (3-8-2, 0-4-1 PBC) and remained in sole possession of second place in the Peach Belt Conference standings.
After a scoreless first half that featured eight Bearcat corner kicks, Lander found the back of the net at the 60:39 mark when Jamedar scored his second goal of the season on an assist from Jordan Skelton.
The goal was enough for Lander, as the Bearcats held the Hurricanes without a shot on goal for the final 78:52 of the match. Jacob Withers made two saves to keep Georgia Southwestern off the board and blank his seventh opponent in nine starts.
Lander wraps up its three-match road trip on Wednesday afternoon with a match at Clayton State.
