Lander falls to Francis Marion, 3-0:

The Lander volleyball team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday with a 3-0 road loss to Francis Marion The Bearcats fell to the Patriots 27-25, 25-21, 25-21.

Lander (19-5, 5-3 PBC) split the regular season series with FMU (12-11, 4-5 PBC).

The Bearcats rallied from a 22-18 deficit in the first set with five consecutive points to take a 23-22 lead and had set point at 25-24, but Francis Marion scored three straight to take set one.

The Patriots jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the second set before Lander climbed back to within two points at 22-20. However, FMU’s Georgia Garrison delivered an ace for the set-clinching point to put Francis Marion ahead 2-0.

In the third set, the Bearcats built an 11-7 lead before the Patriots answered with a 14-3 run to take control of the set and clinch the match.

Kaitlyn Krafka finished with 12 kills and Hannah Hritz added 11 for the Bearcats. Madilyn Reed posted 35 assists and Hannah McManus led the team with 20 digs. Boo Luther notched 13 digs in the loss, while Kyra Ross finished with 11 digs.

Lander begins a four-match homestand to end the regular season on Tuesday as the Bearcats host USC Aiken at 7:00 p.m.
