Lander announces “Education Game” against rival Erskine:
The Lander women’s basketball program and the Lander Diversity Advisory Council are excited to announce a partnership with Greenwood School District 50 to host an “Education Game” on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 11:00 a.m. in Finis Horne Arena against rival Erskine. The game time has been adjusted to accommodate the over 600 Greenwood School District 50 8th graders that will be on the campus of Lander University. Students will enjoy a tour of the campus and exclusive reserved seating for the basketball game at 11:00 a.m. sponsored by Chick-fil-a of Greenwood. District 50 8th grade students, teachers, and chaperones will receive a complimentary game voucher to be redeemed at any upcoming basketball game day.
Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Kevin Pederson:
“We’re very excited to partner with District 50 and have the chance to not only get these 8th grade students to our game, but to also show them our campus and what a great environment we have here. A lot of people don’t know that Dr. Johnson officiates women’s college basketball, and he’s been great to really push this idea and put the ball in our court. This game was something he and I have discussed for several years and I’m excited that we could work it out on our end to make it happen this fall.”
Athletic Director, Brian Reese :
“We are appreciative to Greenwood School District 50 for partnering with Lander Athletics to provide a unique experience to the 8th graders in the district. We are excited for the opportunity to showcase our campus, facilities, and women’s basketball program to the students!”
The women’s basketball game will be free admission and open to the public. The men’s basketball game vs. Erskine will be played at its originally scheduled time at 7:30pm on November 28 with normal ticket prices and reserved seating applicable.
