Lander succumbs to second-half outburst in 4-1 loss to North Georgia:
The Lander women’s soccer team fell prey to a three-goal second half from North Georgia on Saturday afternoon in a 4-1 road loss to the Nighthawks.
The Bearcats (7-2-1, 2-2-1 PBC) entered halftime tied with the Nighthakws (9-1, 5-0 PBC), but North Georgia exploded in the final 45 minutes to stay perfect in Peach Belt Conference play.
Lander jumped out to a 1-0 lead just over two minutes into the match when Brianna Taylorconnected with Juliette Vidal, who netted her seventh goal of the season at the 2:08 mark.
In the 22nd minute, North Georgia found the equalizer on a Meredith Tucker goal to even the match at 1-1.
The Nighthawks took the lead for good in the 55th minute on a Taylor Malasek goal and followed with a goal from Dani Shartouny just over three minutes later. North Georgia capped the scoring with a goal at the 66:55 mark from Renee VanHorn.
The Bearcats return home to host UNC Pembroke on Wednesday night at 5:00 p.m. at Van Taylor Stadium.
