Eppl named Peach Belt Conference Defender of the Week:
The Peach Belt Conference named Lander sophomore defender Kylee Eppl as Defender of the Week for Sept. 25-Oct. 1 on Monday.
Eppl registered a shot and an assist in Lander’s win over Young Harris on Saturday, connecting with Brianna Taylor in the 20th minute for the Bearcats’ first goal. She also anchored Lander’s defense as the Bearcats allowed just one goal in two matches during an unbeaten week in conference play.
The Lake Mary, Fla, native has been a mainstay for a Bearcat defense that has posted four shutouts in the first nine matches of the season. Lander has allowed just seven goals on the year, good for a 0.75 goals-against average.
This marks the first PBC Defender of the Week honor for Lander since Danielle Shaw on Sept. 23, 2014, and just the third in program history.
Lander (7-1-1, 2-1-1 PBC) travels to North Georgia on Saturday afternoon.
