North and Skelton honored as Peach Belt Conference weekly award winners:
Lander men’s soccer players Jamie North and Jordan Skelton were named Peach Belt Conference Player and Defender of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
North captured his first career weekly honor after notching his first career hat trick and an assist in the Bearcats 7-0 victory over Shaw. The senior midfielder recorded his three goals on just five shots in Lander’s largest margin of victory since 2016.
Skelton earned his second Defender of the Week honor in three weeks and Lander’s third in a row by netting the game-winning goal against Francis Marion and helping the Bearcats shut out both opponents last week. The goal agasint the Patriots was Skelton’s second game-winner of the season.
The 16th-ranked Bearcats travel to Queens on Wednesday night before returning to conference play on Saturday night at USC Aiken.
