Lander suffers first loss of the season at No. 4 Columbus State:

The Lander women’s soccer team suffered its first setback of the 2018 season on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-1 decision at 4th-ranked Columbus State.

Lander (5-1-1, 0-1-1 PBC) was facing its second ranked Peach Belt Conference opponent of the season after a 1-1 draw against 13th-ranked Georgia College.

The Cougars (5-0-1, 2-0-0 PBC) scored in the 12th minute, but Lander answered quickly as Juliette Vidal netted the equalizer at the 16:53 mark off an assist from Brianna Taylor.

CSU struck for two more goals in the first half to put the match away, scoring in the 29th and 34th minutes.

Scoring chances were at a premium in the secon half, as the teams combined for just three shots on goal.

Lander will try to earn its first conference win of the season on Wednesday night as the Bearcats travel to Clayton State.
