Baillet claims Peach Belt Conference weekly honor:
Lander defender Brice Baillet has been recognized as the Peach Belt Conference’s men’s soccer Defender of the Week.
The award marked Lander’s second straight PBC Defender of the Week, as Jordan Skelton won the honor last week.
Baillet played a part in the Bearcats’ 3-0 win over rival Erskine on Wednesday night, notching his first career goal and aiding the Lander defense in a shutout of the Flying Fleet, the fifth consecutive win in the rivalry for the Bearcats.
A junior from Brussels, Belgium, Baillet stayed onside just long enough to receive a pass from Kyle Ferguson in the 44th minute and broke away from the Flying Fleet to fire home a shot inside the post to give Lander the second of its three goals on the evening.
The 16th-ranked Bearcats return to the field on Saturday, Sept. 22, when the team travels to Francis Marion at 7:00 p.m.
