Lander’s Skelton, Bomfim earn Peach Belt Conference honors: After helping the 10th-ranked Lander men’s soccer team earn two wins this past week, both Jordan Skelton and Jose Eduardo Bomfim earned Peach Belt Conference honors. Skelton was named was named the PBC Defender of the Week and Bomfim was tabbed as the PBC Goalkeeper of the Week.
Skelton had an outstanding week for the Bearcats, anchoring the Lander defense during a shutout of Anderson on Wednesday and scoring two penalty kick goals against Tusculum on Saturday. The Newcastle, England, native ranks fifth in the conference with three goals on the season.
Bomfim posted his first career shutout against Anderson, notching a career-high six saves against the Trojans. The Salvador, Brazil, native is third in the league with a 1.00 goals against average and has played every minute in goal this year for the Bearcats.
Lander will travel to rival Erskine on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. before making the trip to Limestone on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7:00 p.m.
