Bearcats in third place at Cutter Creek Invitational, Hardee tied for first:
The Lander women’s golf team opened the fall portion of the 2018-19 season with a first round 33-over par 321 to sit in third place at the Cutter Creek Invitational at the par-72, Cutter Creek Golf Club.
Lander started five freshmen and is currently one of only three teams with every player inside the top-30 on the scoreboard.
Caroline Hardee and Hannah Stephenson paced the Bearcats on Monday. Hardee fired the low round for Lander, shooting a four-over par 76 to end her day tied for first. Stephenson turned in an eight-over par 80 and is tied for 10th place.
Madison Jordan with with a nine-over par 81 and is tied for 13th. Tatum Warr carded a 12-over par 84 and is tied for 18th. Grace Zoller ended the day with a 17-over par 89 and is in 27th place.
Playing as an individual, freshman Hannah Fesperman fired a seven-over par 79 to move into a tie for seventh place.
Mount Olive tops the team leaderboard after the Trojans fired a 24-over par 312 on Monday. Host Barton (320) is eight shots back at 32-over par, followed by the Bearcats at 33-over par (321). UNC Pembroke is fourth at 37-over par (325) and Chowan is fifth at 58-over par (346).
The second and final round of the tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Lander will be paired with UNC Pembroke and Barton in round two. Grace Zoller will be first off the tee for the Bearcats at 9:15 a.m., followed by Tatum Warr at 9:24, Madison Jordan at 9:33, Hannah Stephenson at 9:42, and Caroline Hardee and Hannah Fesperman at 9:51.
