Power management company Eaton Corporation recently donated $9,000 to help support students of Lander University. The Eaton Corp. Charitable Contribution award establishes a scholarship that will assist students in financial need who are pursuing a science degree in Lander’s College of Science and Mathematics, or a nursing degree from the William Preston Turner School of Nursing.
The Eaton Science and Nursing Student Supply Scholarship will provide $250-$500 in funding to students identified by the deans of each college. The contribution could impact the lives of up to 36 students during the academic year, covering the costs of lab fees and supplies. Expenses such as lab coats, safety goggles, stethoscopes and application fees to obtain the state’s nursing license can quickly add up.
“This scholarship gives our nursing and science students the opportunity to complete their education without the burden of paying for supplies and fees,” commented Denise Manley ’89, executive director of Lander’s Alumni Affairs.
