Add Some Magic to Your College Experience
By : Olivia Ingram | staff writer
The Disney College Program is a paid internship that allows students from all around the world to live, work, and gain valuable career experience at one of the prestigious Disney theme parks. Candidates go through a three-stage interview process that takes approximately two weeks.
Chosen applicants are offered housing, transportation, and free admission to all of Disney’s theme parks. How cool is that?
This career building experience offers a wide selection of courses varying from hospitality, marketing, engineering, theater, science and more.
The paid portion of this program requires interns to work either in the parks or resorts. Interns have the choice to work in food/beverage, merchandise, attractions, guest services, and more.
Brittany Ford, recent Alumni Mass Communication Major, spent her spring semester and summer in the college program at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. She had the opportunity to work at Cosmic Waves Café inside Magic Kingdom.
“This program was life changing for me,” Ford said. “I made so many friendships with people from different backgrounds and learned more about myself.”
Ford was offered a job the following summer at the Beauty and the Beast themed Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom.
“I would recommend anybody of any major to do the college program”, Ford said.
This program is built for all students of all majors. Lander University offers the Disney Cooperative course. Students can contact Jim Colbert to find out more information or simply visit www.disneycollegeprogram.com. Registration for the fall 2018 program is currently open.
