Skelton, Chretien named to D2CCA Men’s Soccer All-Region Squad

GREENWOOD – The Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) announced its 2017 NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer All-Southeast Region team on Wednesday, featuring a pair of Lander men’s soccer players.

Junior defender Jordan Skelton (Newcastle, England) received first team accolades, while freshman midfielder Thibault Chretien (Laval, France) earned second team. It marks the second consecutive year that two Bearcats have garnered D2CCA all-region honors.

Skelton has started all 19 matches this season. The Bearcat captain and first-team all-PBC selection is second on the team in goals (8) and points (17). He has led a Bearcat defense that allowed 1.09 goals per match this season.

Chretien made an immediate impact in his first season for the Bearcats, playing in 18 contests and making 16 starts. The co-PBC Freshman of the Year has tallied three goals and six assists. He is second on the team in assists and has netted two game-winning goals.

The Bearcats are 13-3-3 and face Young Harris in the Southeast Regional championship match on Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., in Boca Raton, Fla.
