Americus, Ga. – The No. 17-ranked Lander men’s soccer team (11-3-1, 6-0-1 PBC) clinched its second consecutive Peach Belt Conference regular season title on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Georgia Southwestern (5-10-1, 1-6 PBC). The Bearcats found goals from three different sources as the team cruised to victory in its final regular season match.

Lander has now won a share of nine PBC championships in men’s soccer, with this season marking the Bearcats’ first back-to-back titles since the 1995-96 campaigns.

Senior Sam Lofts opened up the scoring in the 21st minute with his seventh goal of the season. Junior Jordan Skelton was credited with the assist as the Bearcats jumped out to the 1-0 advantage in the first half.

Lander found another goal in the second half off a Georgia Southwestern own goal. As a result, the Bearcats claimed the two-goal lead in the 58th minute.

Junior Joshua Bertie notched his first goal of the season in the 77th minute to give Lander the 3-0 advantage. The Bertie goal came off the assist from senior Jamie Lunn.

The Bearcats will receive a bye to second round of the PBC Championship as a result of their league leading record. Lander will await the winner of Flagler and Clayton State for a match-date that has yet to be determined.
