Orlando, Fla. – The No. 15-ranked Lander golf team topped off a seventh-place performance at the sixth annual McDonough Cup on Tuesday. Sophomore Conor Richards led the team with a three-round score of 2-over par to go along with a fifth-place finish at the Historic Rio Pinar Golf Club.
The Bearcats improved to seventh-place on the final day of the tournament after holding at ninth-place after the first two rounds of action. Tournament-host Rollins finished second in the team competition with No. 6-ranked Newberry taking home the top prize.
Junior Michael Brodie was the second-highest golfer for Lander with a 12th-place finish off a 7-over par performance. Senior James Bartlett came in at 20th with a 9-over par finish.
Redshirt junior Garrett Atkinson and freshman Braydon Evans rounded out the group of qualifying Bearcat competitors. Atkinson finished at 79th with a 23-over par score, while Evans finished in 82nd at 25-over par.
The Bearcats will return to play on Feb. 12th at the Spring Invitational Kickoff in Fleming Island, Fla.
