Bearcats fall by a score of 1-0 against UNC Pembroke

Pembroke, N.C. – The Lander women’s soccer team (7-6, 3-5 PBC) fell on the road against UNC Pembroke (10-3-1, 5-1-1 PBC) by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday night. The Braves made the most of their three shots on goal for the match and converted on the team’s third opportunity with the game-winning goal.

Pembroke redshirt sophomore Kristina Stevenson netted the game’s only goal in the 49th behind the combined assists coming from juniors Christine Rolfes and Stacey Scott.

The Bearcats recorded three shots on goal during the match behind two attempts from senior Sara Flores and one from junior Victoria Lange.

Lander committed 13 fouls on the match as opposed to Pembroke’s seven. Bearcat freshman Brenna McCarthy was charged with a yellow card in the 59th minute in the match’s only card.

Lander has lost four of its last six matches as the Bearcats will look to get back on track at Van Taylor Stadium on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. against Georgia College.
