GREENWOOD – Lander sophomores Robbie Young and Dean Cowdroy earned weekly Peach Belt Conference honors on Monday, the conference office announced.
Young was named Peach Belt Player of the Week, while Cowdroy was named Peach Belt Goalkeeper of the Week.
In No. 19 Lander’s victory over North Georgia last Wednesday, Young scored the match-winner for the Bearcat. Then on Saturday, the Motherwell, Scotland, native recorded his fourth goal in as many matches in the team’s 3-1 win over USC Aiken.
On the season, Young has scored four goals and is tied for sixth in the conference in assists and 10th in points.
Cowdroy earned his second conference weekly honor after of the season after recording his fifth shutout of the season in the win against the Nighthawks. The Canberra, Australia, native then registered four saves against the Pacers.
Along with leading the conference in shutouts, Cowdroy ranks second in the league in goals-against average and third in save percentage.
The No. 19 Lander Bearcats will travel to Mars Hill on Tuesday, Oct. 10, for a 7:30 p.m. match.
