Lander places 10th in Koala Classic in final test before PBC Championship

Columbia, S.C. – The Lander women’s cross country team finished 10th in this year’s Koala Classic hosted by Columbia College. Freshman Catey Rithianos was the fastest runner for the Bearcats for the fifth time this season. Rithianos finished 29th with a time of 23:31.

Freshman Allie Reynolds was the next best finisher for Lander with a time of 25:12 and finish of 44th. Freshman Amanda Shackleton placed 56th with a time of 28:09.

Naila McConnell and Emily Fletcher placed in 68th and 71st to round out the group of Lander runners. The freshmen finished with times of 34:58 and 35:52 respectively.

South Carolina took the team victory as the Gamecocks placed all five of their qualifying runners in the race’s top five.

Lander will be back in action on Oct. 21st in the team’s first Peach Belt Championship since 2008.
