No. 23 men’s golf finishes second at UNG Fall Invitational

Dahlonega, Ga. – Lander sophomore Conor Richards notched his second career top-five showing on Tuesday as the No. 23-ranked Bearcat men’s golf team finished second at the UNG Fall Invitational.

Lander (292-280-295=867, +3), which entered Tuesday atop the 13-team leaderboard, carded a seven-over final round to slip out of the top spot. Newberry topped the field leaderboard with a three-round total of two-under par while Georgia Southwestern, Carson-Newman and North Georgia filled out the top five.

For Richards (74-66-69=209, -7), the second-place finish was the sixth top-10 showing of his career. The Hampshire, England, native finished his final two rounds under par to end the tournament just one shot back of medalist Carlos Leandro of Newberry (-8).

James Bartlett (74-69-74=217, +1), finished tied for 11th place while Jon Parker (67-73-78=218, +2) tied for 15th place.

Michael Brodie (77-72-74=223, +7) ended the tournament with a share of 30th place and Garrett Atkinson (77-77-78=232, +16) completed the Bearcat contingency at the event in a tie for 54th place.

Lander is back in action October 16-17 at the Copperhead Championship at the Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla.
