GREENWOOD – Lander men’s soccer senior Sam Lofts (Swindon, England) capped his week with his selection as the United Soccer Coaches Division II National Player of the Week.
Lofts was recognized as the Peach Belt Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week on Monday.
The senior helped Lander extend its unbeaten streak to four matches by registering five goals and an assist in wins over Francis Marion and Catawba.
In the Bearcat’s 4-0 victory over Francis Marion, Lofts recorded the first hat trick of his career. Against Catwaba, Lofts added two more goals and an assist as Lander earned a 6-3 victory.
On the season, Lofts leads the PBC in points (16), shots (39) and is tied for first in goals scored (6).
The 19th-ranked Bearcats (7-2, 3-0 PBC) return to action battling North Georgia on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m.
