Spartanburg. S.C. – For the fourth time this season, freshman Catey Rithianos was the top finisher for the Lander women’s cross country team. Rithianos finished 112th with a time of 21:59 at this year’s USC Upstate Invitational.

The 5K race included both Division I and Division II opponents; however, the two competition levels were separated for scoring purposes. Anderson freshman Olivia Evans was the fastest runner at the Division II level with a time of 18:23 and an overall finish of 10th. Anderson won the team event with a perfect score of 15, while Newberry placed second. The Bearcats did not have enough runners to participate in the team competition.

Freshmen Naila McConnell and Amanda Shackleton rounded out the group of Lander runners. McConnell finished with a time of 26:20 and an overall finish of 124th. Shackleton placed 125th with a time of 26:32.

The Bearcats will be back in action next Saturday at the Koala Classic hosted by Columbia College.
