Men’s soccer faces non-conference foe Catawba on Saturday


Salisbury, N.C. – On the wings of a three-match winning streak in which the team has outscored its opponents 9-2, the Lander men’s soccer team (6-2, 3-0 PBC) will look to extend its positive play in a 7:00 p.m. road match against Catawba (1-5, 1-2 SAC).

  • ForwardSam Lofts will look to continue his exceptional play on Saturday as the senior has scored four goals in the Bearcats’ last two contests. Lofts notched his first career hat trick against Francis Marion in the team’s last outing.

  • Freshman midfielderThibault Chretin was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Chretin scored the game-winning goal for the Bearcats in last week’s double overtime battle against Flagler.
  • Junior defenderRichard Bryan enters Saturday’s match as the conference’s leader in shots attempted with 35. Bryan recorded his first goal of the season in last week’s 2-0 victory over Clayton State.
  • Catawba notched its first win of the season last week in a 2-1 victory over Coker.
  • Catawba’s last non-conference victory came last season on Oct. 12th in a 3-2 win over Lees-McRae.
