GREENWOOD – Lander Athletics announced the launch of a new fundraiser to enhance athletic scholarships and operating budgets today.
The athletic department will be selling numbered golf balls over the following months, culminating with “The Drop” on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at Dolny Stadium. All sold golf balls will be dropped and cash prizes will be awarded to the nine particpants whose balls land closest to the pin. Prize money for winning tickets will be provided by ball sales. The event will be conducted by the Lander Foundation.
Registration can be done via check or credit card.
Food, music and beverages will kick-off the event with the actual ball drop at approximately 7:30 p.m. One ball purchase allows one person to attend event.
“This is a big endeavor for us,” said athletics director Brian Reese, “but one we believe will benefit the entire department and our student-athletes. We look forward to a fantastic turnout from Bearcat fans everywhere. this fundraiser will enhance both our student-athlete experience and the gameday experience for the Greenwood community.”
The owner of the ball closest to the pin will win $5,000, second-closest will win $3,000 and third through ninth-closest will win $1,000.
