Cross country takes on the field at the Bulldog Stampede on Saturday

Wingate, N.C. – After recording 5th and 14th place in their previous races, the Lander men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to return to action this Saturday in the 7th annual Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate University. The women will run at 9:00 a.m., followed by the men at 9:45 a.m.

STORYLINES

• Freshman Evin Fortenberry is coming off a career day in the Bearcats last outing. Fortenberry placed with a team-best finish of 30th at the Jaguar Cross Country Challenge.

• Freshmen Catey Rithianos and Allie Reynolds are coming off personal best performances at last week’s UNG Cross Country Invitational with times of 23:46 and 23:47 respectively.

• The Bulldog Stampede will feature four Peach Belt Conference opponents (Augusta, Francis Marion, Georgia College and USC Aiken).

• Saturday marks the longest races of the year for both teams. The women’s race will be a 6K, while the men will run a 10K.

• The Wingate University Cross Country Facility will also be the host site of this year’s NCAA Southeast Regional Championship on November 4th.
