Oakwood, Ga – Freshmen Catey Rithianos and Allie Reynolds blazed the trail for the Lander women’s cross country team at the fifth annual UNG Cross Country Invitational. Rithianos and Reynolds placed 65th and 66th overall as the two Bearcats finished just one second apart with times of 23:46 and 23:47 respectively.

Invitational host North Georgia won the event placing four runners in the top ten with senior Brittany Truitt leading the way for the Nighthawks with a second place finish. The Bearcats took advantage of their first opportunity to place in a team event as Lander did not have enough runners to qualify in previous contests. The Bearcats finished 14th overall.

Rounding out the runners for Lander was Naila McConnell, Brooke Trotter and Amanda Shackleton with finishes of  87th, 90th and 91st overall respectively.

The Bearcats will be in action next Saturday at 9:00 a.m. for the 7th running of the Bulldog Stampede at Wingate University.
