GREENWOOD – Jordan Skelton and Dean Cowdroy were honored by the Peach Belt Conference as Defender of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week, the league office announced today.

Skelton, a junior from Newcastle, England, anchored a Bearcat defense that recorded two shutouts last week. The Bearcat captain scored a goal and added an assist in a 5-0 win over Erskine as the Bearcat defense held the Flying Fleet to just three total shots, two on goal. Skelton and the defense then limited Tusculum to just five shots in a hard-fought 1-0 win on the road. Lander has allowed just five goals in four games and is third in the PBC with a 1.25 GAA. The Bearcats are also second in the PBC with two shutouts on the year.

Cowdroy, a sophomore from Canberra, Australia, played all 180 minutes in two Lander shutouts last week, making six total saves. The sophomore keeper made a pair of saves in a 5-0 win over Erskine, then made four saves in a 1-0 shutout of Tusculum. Cowdroy is 3-0 in games he has started on the year and is ranked second in the PBC with a 0.67 goals against average.
