What’s happening at XLR Lander Radio
By Chris Franklin
This semester, Lander welcomed the largest freshman class and largest amount of transfer students in the University’s history, and with that, of course, came the largest amount of hot new DJs pouring into the student radio station, XLR.
According to Charles “Chaz” Giles, XLR producer, 10 new DJs signed on for radio shows this year. These shows range from sports talk to folk, 50’s all the way to heavy metal. XLR has some exciting new things coming up, and the producers are very excited about the diversity in the music.
Liz Aydlette, radio promoter, is currently working to compile biographies of the DJs so that listeners can read about the DJs on the RFX while listening to their shows. There are many ways to listen to XLR, despite it being an internet exclusive radio channel. If you want to use a web browser, log onto xlr1.org, or find their Facebook page, XLR Lander Radio.
Some of the new shows Giles has slated are Planet Janet every Thursday from 4p.m. to 5p.m. with Janet Brewer, Tunes at Two with George Barmby every Monday from 2p.m. to 3p.m. and Malt Shop Memories with Chris Collins every Thursday from 2p.m. until 3p.m. Anyone interested in joining the new DJs at XLR, they can contact Chaz Giles at Charles.giles@lander.edu
