As the Lander Men’s Soccer team begins its 2017 season, big plans have been made to increase home game attendance as well as involvement with the community. Lander is planning to have different themes and other various attractions at upcoming home games.

Head coach Lee Squires said that these ideas were the result of a committee, including Squires himself, other men’s soccer coaches Robbie Seaton and James Smith, Rixon Lane, Brian Reese, and Justin Burger.

Squires said that the committee “collaborated” to come up with ideas such as bringing inflatable bouncy houses for children to play in before the games. The committee has also partnered with local soccer club, Toros, in hopes that a different youth team will walk out with the LUMS team during the National Anthem each game.

Squires said that the attractions are “Good exposure, but also gets the community engaged.” The next home is September 6th at 7:00 PM vs Erskine.
