Fortenberry leads men’s cross country to fifth-place finish in Augusta
In just its second event since 1999, the Lander men’s cross country team finished fifth at the ninth annual Jaguar Cross Country Invitational.
For the second consecutive week, freshman Evin Fortenberry blazed the trail for the Bearcats as the Woodruff, S.C. native notched a time of 32:09 and a finish of 30th overall.
Freshmen Jeron Brown, Josh Chapman and Yancy Killian weren’t far behind as the group finished with times of 32:56, 33:10 and 33:13 respectively.
Invitational host Augusta took home the team victory after placing the race’s top seven runners.
Lander will be back in action on Sept. 23rd for the seventh annual Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate University.
