After careful consideration from the Lander University Athletic Director, Brian Reese, and the universities president cabinet, the Athletic Department has made the decision to begin selling alcoholic beverages at the women’s and men’s soccer games.

Sales first began on Wednesday, September 6 at the Jeff May Complex. These beverages will be available for those 21 and older at every home soccer game throughout the soccer season.

Sales begin at 4:30 and will end at the 40-minute mark of the men’s game. The Athletic department chose Sports Break, a local bar, to sponsor the selling of alcohol. Brian Reese stated, “Last year we began selling alcohol at the baseball games and we recorded a 9.6% growth of attendance. We made this choice not to only increase the attendance at soccer games, but to mainly provide another amenity for fans to enjoy.”

“Apart from selling alcohol, we have also arranged to now have face painting, a balloon artist, inflatable bounce houses, and a train. We are really trying to create a fun and entertaining environment for fans of all ages,” said Reese.
