Lander University student, Jarron Gravely, has been nominated for a College Broadcasters, Inc (CBI) National Student Production Award.
Gravely is a junior Mass Communications major and a finalist for the Best Documentary/Public Affairs Audio Award. His audio documentary, named “Nothing Less Than Who We Are”, follows the story of his grandparents and starts with their chance meeting at Lander University.
“It’s a love story through and through, as they continued to love each other more and more through the decades and through disease and hardships, as well as a testament to their faith in God,” says Gravely.
Gravely discussed how he felt about the nomination, “I feel ecstatic. Just completely over-the-moon excited. It’s been two weeks since finding out, and I’m still kind of shocked. It’s extremely humbling as well.”
The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony held at the National Student Electronic Media Convention November 2-4 in San Antonio, TX.
Lander XLR manager and Emerging Media Specialist Paul Crutcher explains how XLR Lander Radio gets involved in the annual competition: “XLR is involved through me nominating projects, clips, airchecks, etc. in various categories.” Crutcher, who also serves on the national governing board and interim secretary for CBI, had this to say about Gravely and his nomination, “I am very proud of Jarron. He had a good plan from the very beginning and put many hours of work into putting his documentary together. I think his project [will become] a family legacy or time capsule as well… and I really appreciate that part of it.”
