Taunita Stephenson named Associate AD/Student-Athlete Success

GREENWOOD – Lander University is pleased to announce the hiring of Taunita Stephenson for the position of Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success. Stephenson comes to Lander after stints with the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), Delaware State University and Grinnell College.

Prior to her time at Grinnell, Stephenson worked in the office of player engagement for the National Football League.

“I am very happy and excited to announce Taunita Stepeheson as our new Assosciate AD for Student-Athlete success. Taunita’s experience at the collegiate and NFL levels makes her an outstanding addition to our athletic department,” stated Brian Reese, Athletics Director. “I feel that she will have an immediate impact on our student-athletes and department. Along with developing programming for our student-athletes, Taunita will be working very closely with Susan Going, our outstanding Faculty Athletic representative, but also have sport oversight as well.”

Stephenson worked as the Assistant Commissioner of Championships and External Partnerships for the SIAC. During her time at Delaware State, Stephenson spent two years as the Assistant Director of Wellness and Recreation/Campus Events. At Grinnell, Stephenson served as the Coordinator of Diversity & Inclusion in Athletics, the Coordinator of Event Management and the Assistant Coordinator of Facilities and Event Management.

“I’m so grateful to Brian Reese and Lander Athletics for this wonderful opportunity,” said Stephenson. “I’m very excited to get to work with our student-athletes in creating partnerships on and off campus to support them during their time at Lander.”

Stephenson holds a dual master’s degree in sport business management from the DeVos Sports Business Management Program and the University of Central Florida. She graduated from Delaware State in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in science.
