The French Visit in 1986!
By Becca Watford
Dr. Joel Cleland used to be the director of a program called the Carolina Culture in the 1980s. It helped to show foreign exchange students American culture. In the summer of 1986 38 French students came to the campus for three and a half weeks. He arranged for them to visit Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Atlanta and other sites. He had them visit with families on the weekends so they could see that side of American culture. Summer session two students lived with the French students.
