Astronaut at Lander in 2002!
By: Becca Watford
Frank Culbertson, who was formerly the Commander on the International Space Station came to Lander University to speak in 2002. His mother and sister both graduated from Lander and he feels strong ties to the university. He was a native of Holly Hill, S.C. and has an honorary doctoral degree from Lander University. He spoke of the mission’s troubles and happy memories to the students in 2002. He carried a Lander University pennant with him into space and returned it to the university.
The pennant that you are talking about is framed and is in the Admissions Tour room. It’s great to know the story behind it. Thank you!
