The Beginning of the “New Voices”
By: Becca Watford
The “New Voices”, a Lander University journal full of students’ writings, started in 1986. They saw the journal to help a student develop their voice, hence the name the “New Voices.” The editor of the journal at the time was Scott Olsen, who was a visiting professor. It was created to show off students’ work and to make publishing less confusing and mysterious. The original creators of the journal wanted to help students enjoy their essays by giving them a chance to publish their work. The “New Voices” is still a running journal on campus full of students’ work. Today is the last day to submit a new piece of work to the journal for 2017!
