Bearcats can punch ticket to postseason on Senior Night

GREENWOOD – The Lander men’s basketball team takes the floor on Wednesday night with an opportunity to play its way into the postseason when the Bearcats host Georgia College at 7:30 p.m. in Horne Arena. A win over the Bobcats will send Lander to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.

STORYLINES

• Lander (10-17) holds a one-game lead over Armstrong State and Francis Marion for the fourth spot in the Eastern Division. The Bearcats can clinch a berth in the conference tournament with a win over Georgia College or losses by Armstrong State and Francis Marion.

• Prior to tipoff, Lander will honor seniors JR Washington and Telvin Gabriel.

• The Bearcats have won four consecutive games against Georgia College, but trail the overall series 26-20.

• Lander is attempting to advanced to the PBC tournament for the fourth consecutive season.

• Washington currently sits in third place on Lander’s all-time scoring list. He has 1,751 career points and is 93 points away from tying Clinton Cobb for second place.

• Freshman forward Chris Tate set a career-high with 17 points against Young Harris on Monday night.

• Sophomore guard Rahu Purdie has played in all 69 games in his Bearcat career.
