Poverty in Africa!
By: Becca Watford
In 2001, there was a lecture on poverty in Africa told by an African native, and professor (at the time), Dr. Ken Mufuka. The lecture hall was full as students listened to him. His major points were that power and resources were not being used as they should be and that “African values may not encourage wealth.” AIDS and the family system are not conducive to wealth as well. Africans have often been mistreated by westerners, and the programs put into place often do not consider the native people. This is still an ongoing issue in Africa that needs to be worked on.
