On January 28, 2016, the Lander University Equestrian team will be hosting its first western show of the semester. Lander Equestrian is part of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA), where they compete with different schools in the region.
The team, which is comprised of close to 30 members, will be hosting and competing in the show. Coach Lehman stated that she “is excited to see how these girls will work together to make everything run smoothly.”
There is a lot of preparation that goes into putting on a horse show. The week before the show, the team is busy getting together all the supplies needed to make the show successful. Horses need to be washed; saddles need to be polished and the arena needs to be made perfect. There are several behind-the-scenes things that need to be done. When talking with team member and treasurer, Juliet Taft, she stated that “putting on these horse shows are both stressful and rewarding.
There aren’t many instances when the team is in the school’s spotlight but when we are, we want to do our best to make sure we make the team looks professional and efficient.” The address of the equestrian center is 2605 Hwy 72/221E Greenwood, SC 29649. The show starts at 10 a.m. and is free to the public.
This was well written, I was interested and will attend this event!
