GREENWOOD – The Lander volleyball team rallied from late deficits in three consecutive sets to down Georgia College, 3-0, on Senior Day at Finis Horne Arena. Lander defeated the Bobcats 25-23, 26-24, 26-24.
Senior Khiani Kelly and Halle Dotson led the offense with 16 and 13 kills, respectively. Sophia Perkins and Katie Haake both recorded double-doubles, as Perkins finished with 23 assists and 13 digs, while Haake added 20 assists and 10 digs. Hannah McManus tallied a team-high 28 digs, while Amanda Medlock added 20. Senior Kendall Korte finished with 11 digs, while Reyonia Whipple had three block assists at the net.
Trailing 23-20 in the opening set, Lander rallied for five consecutive points, with Reilly Kunstler ending the set with a kill to give Lander a 25-23 win.
Down 21-20 in the second set, the Bearcats once again answered, taking a 23-22 lead and holding off the Bobcats to take the set, 26-24.
A kill from Medlock gave Lander a 22-21 lead in set three and blocks from Kelly and Kunstler sealed the win for Lander.
The Bearcats travel to the Peach Belt Conference tournament in Milledgeville, Ga., next week.
