
GREENWOOD – JR Washington scored a game-high 25 points and Chris Tate grabbed a team-high six rebounds as the Bearcat men’s basketball team fell to Clemson, 105-49, in an exhibition game in Littlejohn Coliseum on Thursday night.
Washington, who also collected four rebounds, connected on 9-of-20 field goals, including 3-of-9 threes, and 4-of-6 free throws. Rahu Purdie added nine points and two assists, while Jordan Dingle finished with eight points and three rebounds.
Gabe DeVoe led Clemson with 20 points, three rebounds and three assists. Avry Holmes and Siddy Djitte both finished with 16 points, while Donte Grantham pulled down 10 rebounds.
Lander connected on 15-of-52 field goals (28.8 percent), including 4-of-19 three pointers (21.1percent). The Bearcats sank 15-of-18 free throws (83.3 percent).
Clemson, which held a 55-15 lead at halftime, was 39-of-68 from the field (57.4 percent), including 13-of-33 threes (39.4 percent), and 14-of-16 from the foul line (87.5 percent). Clemson outrebounded Lander, 43-27.
Lander begins its season on Nov. 11, as the Bearcats host Brevard in the Bearcat Classic at 6:30 p.m., in Horne Arena.
