GREENWOOD – Senior Ty’hesha Reynolds and junior Breshay Johnson were named to the preseason All-Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball team which was announced by the league office today.
Reynolds, a 5-5 guard from Savannah, Ga., was a third-team All-Peach Belt selection for the Bearcats as a junior after leading Lander to the PBC Eastern Division title and the PBC Tournament championship. Last season, she averaged 12.9 points and 4.3 assists per game, leading the conference with 133 total assists. Reynolds was also fourth in the league in steals and ninth in total points. The senior surpassed the 1,000-point total for her career last season and could break into the PBC’s top-10 all-time career scoring list this season.
Johnson, a 5-9 forward from Hopkins, S.C., was named second-team All-Peach Belt and All-PBC Tournament selection. The forward led the PBC in field goal percentage and led the team with 16.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. She had nine double-doubles on the year and was named a PBC Player of the Week. Johnson scored in double digits in 28 of Lander’s 32 games with a season-high 28 coming against Lees-McRae.
Joining Reynolds and Johnson on the preseason All-PBC team are: North Georgia’s Kelsey Hutchins, Augusta’s Breonna O’Conner and Columbus State’s Ashley Asouzu.
