GREENWOOD – The Lander basketball men’s and women’s basketball teams will both enter the season ranked in the top-20 of the Division II Bulletin Preseason National Rankings. The men are ranked No. 15, while the women enter the season ranked No. 17.

Additionally, Lander basketball earned individual honors from Division II Bulletin, as J.R. Washington and Ty’Hesha Reynolds were both tabbed as preseason All-Americans. Reynolds was also selected as the Peach Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year.

After winning the PBC title and reaching the NCAA Tournament in Steve Roberts’ first season as head coach, the men’s basketball team returns three starters in hopes of making back-to-back trips to the postseason for the first time since the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons.

With a 32-6 Peach Belt Conference record over the past two seasons, the Bearcat women’s program is aiming to reach the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season. The Bearcats will be aided by the return of three of their top four scorers, including Reynolds and junior forward Breshay Johnson
