Bearcat golf finishes second at UNG Fall Invitational

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The 23rd-ranked Lander men’s golf team finished in second place of 12 teams Tuesday at the two-day, three-round North Georgia Fall Invitational hosted by the University of North Georgia at the par-72, 6,945-yard Achasta Golf Club.

Newberry held off the Bearcats to claim the overall team title with a 33-under-par 831 and was followed by 2. Lander 840, 3. Columbus State 845, T4. Georgia College 859, T4. Queen’s 859, 6. Young Harris 864, 7. West Georgia 872, 8. Montevallo 873, 9. Clayton State 876, 10. Palm Beach Atlantic 886, 11. North Georgia 900, and 12. Shorter 958.

Individually for Lander, Michal Pospisil (68-64-74) led the Bearcats with a 10-under-par 206 and finished third, James Bartlett (71-69-68) tied for fifth at 208, Conor Richards (75-68-68) tied for 10th at 211, Michael Brodie (70-75-74) tied for 26th at 219, and Roberto Garagorri (71-77-82) tied for 51st with 230.

Pospisil set an individual 18-hole record by shooting a 64 in the second round. Pospisil and James Bartlett were both named to the All-Tournament team.
