Bearcats lose PBC road match at Columbus State

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Lander women’s soccer fell to 13th-ranked Columbus State, 5-0, in a Peach Belt Conference match on Saturday afternoon.

Lander falls to 2-5-1 and 1-2-1 in the PBC, while the Cougars move to 7-2, (3-1).

Nicole Corcione gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead at 10:53 off an assist by Mandy Janowitz, netting her third goal of the season.

Cassandra Wade extended the Cougars’ lead to 2-0 when she connected with Amanda Murphy’s corner kick at the 33:18 mark.

Claire Belay extended the Cougars’ lead to 3-0 heading into halftime, as she scored off an assist from Angelica Tabares 39:55 into the match.

Corcione netted her second goal of the match, and fourth of a season, at the 51:53 mark of the match, extending the Cougars’ lead to 4-0.

Georgian Barton tallied her first goal of the season at 89:44, giving the Cougars a commanding 5-0 lead.

CSU outshot the Bearcats, 22-2 and led in corner kicks, 8-0.

Lander’s Megan Wiley grabbed grabbed nine saves while Columbus State’s Paige Betsill grabbed one save.
